GREAT RED BANK ‘LATKE’ FESTIVAL HELD – Congregation Beth Shalom held its first annual Great Red Bank “Latke” Festival on Dec. 25, 2008 in celebration of Hanukkah. “Latkes,” Yiddish for potato pancakes, is a traditional Hanukah dish. The event featured a dreidle (spinning top) tournament, a latke-eating contest, a community candle lighting ceremony, singing, dinner and games.
